A unique profile of British pop superstar Robbie Williams
The film was born from a series of interviews that director Michael Gracey conducted with Robbie Williams over a year and a half at Williams’ recording studio in Los Angeles, United States. Although the interviews were not originally intended for the film, as Gracey “just wanted to capture [Williams] in his own voice, telling his own story,” most of Williams’ voice in the film comes from these recordings. I didn’t know what to expect from the film, as I thought it would be quite strange to see Robbie as a monkey. Ultimately, the monkey adds a lot to the film. You fall in love with him immediately, and within a few minutes, it IS Robbie.
Jono Davies, who plays Robbie, is a brilliant actor
Even though you don’t see his face, he definitely knows how to represent him. The story is one that will touch your heart. It’s not just about Robbie the Popstar, but also about his younger years.
I have so much respect for him
He dares to be so vulnerable in this film, which has a lot of stories about his personal life, career, and the challenges he had to face. The music and visuals also add a lot to the film. The film is a mix of laughter, but definitely tears.
At the end, it left me speechless, teary-eyed, but most of all PROUD of who he is today
